Cookouts at Peaceful Valley

Imagine dismounting after a long horseback ride and enjoying a meal prepared streamside or on top of a mountain. At Peaceful Valley Ranch, this wish can come true.

BOM - Breakfast on the Mountain is a meal we serve every Tuesday morning at our mountain top site. After a quick horseback ride or wagon ride to the upper horse pasture, guests walk over to the breakfast site. As the eggs are being cooked over the open fire, guests enjoy a cup of cowboy coffee while taking in the breathtaking view of the Continental Divide. Once the food is ready guests are invited to fill up on the hearty breakfast while enjoying some good ol’ cowboy entertainment. After breakfast, guests have the opportunity to join our Naturalist in a presentation of the local plants and wildlife in area. There is also a brief talk of the history of Peaceful Valley. If you are lucky, one of the local miners will come down and join us for a cup of coffee and a little lesson on gold mining in the mountains. Afterwards, folks head back out on horseback and on the wagon. Breakfast on the Mountain will satisfy all appetites!

The Jamestown Barbeque is located at the Ceran St. Vrain trailhead. Every Friday afternoon, some guests arrive by horseback while others arrive by wagon. The smell of barbequed hamburgers and hotdogs fills the air as the children play in the river carved rock pools and the adults rest their tired legs. It is hard to beat barbequed burgers and dogs, river-chilled watermelon, homemade coleslaw and fresh baked cookies at this beautiful riverside venue. Everything seems to taste even better outside! After lunch, the children pan for gold in the slower moving waters of the river while parents and grandparents snap photos. All too soon it is time to dry off and get ready to head back to the ranch either on horseback or on the wagon.
